Daniel Rasmussen

My name is Daniel Rasmussen, and I am honored and excited to serve as your new Assistant Principal at Hazel Green Elementary!

I grew up in the Hazel Green area for the first 18 years of my life. During these years, I was blessed with a strong educational upbringing as a product of the Madison County School System. After attending Madison Cross Roads Elementary and Sparkman Middle School, I graduated from Sparkman High School in 2006. It was during the subsequent years in college that I realized my calling and passion for a career in education, largely cultivated by my positive experiences in schools growing up. I would eventually earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Indiana University Kokomo. Later, I would further my education by earning a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Carson-Newman University.

Before returning home to the North Alabama area, I taught for nine years in Rutherford County Schools in Tennessee. It was in these years that I forged my career as an educator and began to, through the support of many individuals, realize my potential as an educational leader. When I returned to Alabama, I experienced two wonderful years as a teacher in the Madison County School System, first at Madison Cross Roads Elementary - my childhood school - and then at Moores Mill Intermediate School.

While my educational and career path has been one that has spanned over three states, I am beyond thrilled that it has culminated in this wonderful opportunity to serve as a school administrator in the very community in which I grew up! Supporting our educators, our students, their families, and the community as a whole is something I am tremendously passionate about, and I seek to serve you all in any way I possibly can! 

My most personal calling, however, is that of being a husband to my amazing wife, Jenn, and a father to two wonderful children: a son, Colten, and a daughter, Dakota. Together, we share quality time in experiencing our love for watching sports (professional baseball, college football, and college basketball), taking in the great outdoors (hiking, kayaking, and searching for waterfalls), and hitting the open road to travel to new places!

I'm eager to partner with all of you to ensure the growth and achievement for all of our students! Let's do it the #TrojanWay!
